Tomorrow on May 14th, PJ Morton drops his first major label album since being signed to YMCMB, “New Orleans.” It’s already available for pre-order on iTunes, which of course means I already pre-ordered. If you enjoy good singing, I suggest you take a listen.
A few weeks ago my cousin Gin and I had the pleasure of attending his album listening session in New York at the SESAC office. It was intimate and quaint with a very selective few, which made it feel really special. As the exclusive unreleased copy of “New Orleans” played in the background, the mood in the room brightened up. The sounds were a perfect fusion of old school meets new school, soul and pop. I’ve been a fan for years, so it’s exciting to see his career expand and grow, and also very inspiring. PJ Morton’s first single off of the album, “Only One” Ft. Stevie Wonder is already a new favorite of mine. His duet with Stevie Wonder’s harmonica section towards the end of the song always gets me. I find myself randomly humming or singing that part. If you haven’t had a chance to hear it yet, check it out below. I’m a sucker for a love story, so I enjoyed the video.
The listening session was the perfect atmosphere to make new friends, which brings me to mention my new friend Chris Caicos. Chris was this super friendly photographer who was kind enough to share some of the pictures that he took that night with us. Aside from being a photographer he’s also a chef! A picture taking food connoisseur, now that’s a double talent. Check out his Instagram to see the delectable sights of some of his dishes and his Website to see more of flicks. Take a look below at what the event was like behind the eyes of Chris Caicos…
The listening session took place at SESAC, a performing rights organization.
My Cousin Gin and I, my partner in crime. Her new mixtape is on it’s way out really soon, but in the meantime check out her first mixtape “Lord of the Flies”.
